Ralph meets a boy name piggy who relies on him to get them rescued so they can go home . He is the most influential one of the boys he meets. Then they meet a boy named Jack who does not agree with what Ralph and Piggy are doing which brings great trouble to them. So Jack not agreeing with them tries to put himself in power. Ralph loss of power means that he is not going to be able to take care of the boys.

Ralph is being hunted by jacks clan of savages and falls into a pyramid. He thinks about things and bites his nails not knowing why. At this point I believe he if frightened of what might happen in the future. He tries to put together a plan but he wont be able follow through to the end.
Ralph lets Jack do what he wants to do without challenging him and escapes. Then he starts hunting and realizes that he needs power and so he change his attitude. Ralph decides to fight back against Jack so he uses his ideas. He believes that all the important things like fire and shelters are needed for rescue. Ralph wants the rules he made to be followed.
Ralph realizes that he cant even follow his own ideals and gives up. He thinks that only Piggy and Simon were able to convince him other wise. He cannot be everyone's idol. Even if he did he know that he would not be able to think like Piggy. Ralph was not a good thinker.
Ralph the positive part of the group. He was the one who showed courage and respect. He noticed that he did not keep his worth. He was a natural leader who hesitated sometimes.
